Work on the Frank J. Wood Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham, ME continues to advance with the bridge deck now completed. This major milestone sets the stage for the next phases of work, which include utility relocations and roadway tie-ins. Crews have already relocated water and communication lines to the new bridge, while efforts to shift electric and gas lines are ongoing. Additional relocations are planned on both the Brunswick and Topsham sides in preparation for the eventual traffic transition.

Pedestrian railings, architectural lighting, and other finishing details are being installed to ensure the bridge is both functional and visually appealing. Looking ahead, the project team will be racing against the calendar to open the new bridge to traffic by the end of the year. Once complete, the new bridge will provide smoother traffic flow, modern safety features, and improved pedestrian access for the community.

Reed &Reed crews will then shift focus to demolition of the existing 3-span truss bridge and its substructures. Once the old bridge has been removed work will begin on the final phase of hardscape improvements at each end of the project, which include seating areas, landscaping and riverine viewing panoramas.
