Project Description

This project was a bridge replacement on Route 1 over the Taunton River. This project involved jacking the existing 5-span truss bridge 50 feet sideways onto a temporary substructure to allow uninterrupted flow of Route 1 traffic. The new 8 span 1010 foot bridge consists of a combination drilled shaft and H-pile foundation supporting a precast concrete girder superstructure. After the new bridge was opened to traffic, the old trusses were barged to shore and scrapped.
